There is strong evidence from randomized clinical trials and naturalistic settings  that some therapists are more effective than other therapists.  This evidence raises a vital question:  What are the characters of effective therapists?  In this presentation, the research on effective therapists will be summarized (Spoiler:  The most effective therapists have a well-developed set of interpersonal skills that are displayed in challenging emotional moments in therapy).
