This workshop will consider the challenges of real-life, real-time harm prevention in clinical settings. It will begin by naming the key challenges clinicians face – for example, using structured professional judgement-informed approaches efficiently and summarising one’s understanding of risk in the individual case briefly. Attendees are invited to describe the challenges they face in trying to exercise best practice in understanding and managing risk in their clinical settings. The workshop will conclude by offering practical and defensible suggestions for the management of each of the challenges identified.
